Mr. Keerthi Gunawardane, President, FCCISL and Executive Committee Member, SCCI (Sri Lanka Chapter) paid a courtesy call on His Excellency, Md. Golam Sarwar, Secretary General, SAARC on June 12, 2024, at Hilton Colombo, Sri Lanka. Ms. Irosha Cooray, Director (Education, Security and Culture), SAARC and Mr. Tilan M. Wijesooriya, Secretary General, FCCISL and Associate Director, SCCI also took part in the meeting.
During the meeting, they discussed the importance of rejuvenating SAARC through effective projects, initiatives and events such as South Asian Trade Exhibitions, Investment Forums, Business Leaders Conclaves, Young Entrepreneurs Development Programs, Women-led Business Forums, MSME and Startup Development Programs, etc. They emphasized that SAARC apex bodies are instrumental in strengthening socioeconomic cooperation, intra-regional trade and economic integration in the SAARC region.
His Excellency Md. Golam Sarwar, Secretary General, SAARC extended his fullest support for the initiatives of South Asian business community to enhance the regional economic cooperation in the region of SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation). Furthermore, he cordially accepted the invitation to the South Asia Trade Fair, scheduled to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 2-4 August 2024.
