From Distribution to Innovation: Mubashir Tanveer’s Journey in Transforming Pakistan’s Hygiene Industry
I started my business career by assisting my father in the establishment of Danpak Foods Industries. I gained practical knowledge of the principles of sales, distribution, and market dynamics. This exposure inspired me to start Prime Sales, a distribution company for confectionery, in 1997.
Early on, I discovered the value of solid relationships, flexibility in responding to market changes, and tenacity in conquering obstacles. These ideas still serve as a roadmap for my company's expansion and success today.
2.After the success of Prime Sales, what motivated you to join Mtek Hygiene in 2018, and how did your experience with Prime Sales shape your approach to leading Mtek?Following Prime Sales' success, I ventured into baby diaper distribution, which provided me with important knowledge about the hygiene sector. After gaining experience and recognizing the market’s potential, I started MTEK Hygiene (Pvt) Ltd. with my father, Mr. Tanveer in 2018 to drive its growth and innovation in the industry.
My strategy was influenced by my experience with Prime Sales, which placed a significant emphasis on customer-centric tactics, market flexibility, and robust distribution networks. By emphasizing innovation, quality, and broadening our reach in the hygiene industry, these lessons enabled me to propel MTEK Hygiene (Pvt) Ltd. forward.
3.Under your leadership, Mtek Hygiene has seen remarkable growth. Can you share some of the key strategies you implemented to expand the company’s operations and workforce while maintaining a strong organizational culture?Strategic growth, operational effectiveness, and a robust corporate culture have all contributed to MTEK Hygiene's success. To ensure more product availability, one important tactic was to fortify our distribution network and enter new markets. In order to satisfy customer demands, we also prioritized innovation and constant product quality improvement.
We made investments in personnel development, cultivating a culture of cooperation, responsibility, and ongoing learning in order to increase our operations and staff. We achieved sustainable growth while retaining a strong corporate culture by putting employee well-being first and fostering an atmosphere of empowerment and trust.
4. As someone involved in several international business councils, including the Pak-China Business Council and Pakistan UK Business Council, how do you see Pakistan’s hygiene sector evolving with regional and global collaborations? The hygiene industry in Pakistan has enormous room for expansion, and regional and international cooperation is essential to its development. We have access to global experience, cutting-edge technology, and new market prospects thanks to organizations like the Pakistan-China Business Council and the Pakistan-UK Business Council. Through knowledge exchange, innovation, and the adoption of international best practices, these partnerships assist the industry in improving the caliber of its products and the effectiveness of its manufacturing processes.
Pakistan's market is growing as people become more conscious about their health and hygiene. Developing relationships with foreign partners will increase investment, bring about sustainable solutions, and establish Pakistan as a major force in the world of hygiene
5. With hygiene being a critical yet often overlooked aspect of public health in Pakistan, how is Mtek Hygiene redefining the narrative by providing innovative, affordable, and eco-friendly solutions? At MTEK Hygiene, we're dedicated to changing Pakistani hygiene norms by providing creative, reasonably priced, and environmentally responsible solutions. We concentrate on creating premium hygiene products that satisfy a range of customer demands while maintaining sustainability. We increase the accessibility of basic hygiene goods for the general public by utilizing cutting-edge technology and international best practices.
Beyond manufacturing, we actively engage in awareness campaigns, educating communities about hygiene and its impact on public health. Through CSR initiatives, partnerships, and advocacy, MTEK aims to drive a cultural shift toward better hygiene practices, ultimately contributing to a healthier and more informed Pakistan.
6. As a new member of the SCCI, what are your expectations from this platform in fostering regional collaboration, and how do you envision leveraging it to contribute to the growth of Pakistan’s hygiene sector?view this forum as a crucial chance to promote regional cooperation, stimulate commerce, and share business knowledge as a recent member of the SCCI. It gives access to a huge network of companies, decision-makers, and creative thinkers, facilitating international collaborations that can improve Pakistan's hygiene industry.
In the SAARC region, I want to use this platform to draw in investments, implement best practices, and investigate new markets. We can support regional economic growth, enhance public health standards, and fortify the hygiene sector by collaborating on sustainable solutions and policy advocacy.
7. Your CSR initiatives, such as the one featured in the GPCCI Newsletter, highlight your commitment to social impact. How do you balance business growth with giving back to the community, and why is CSR important to you?I believe that social impact and business growth go hand in hand. At MTEK Hygiene, we think that success is determined by the good change we bring about as much as by financial gain. Our dedication to community well-being, especially in terms of accessibility and hygiene awareness, is reflected in our CSR projects, such as those highlighted in the GPCCI Newsletter.
By incorporating sustainability and social responsibility into our core strategy, we strike a balance between growth and giving back. In addition to enhancing our reputation and trust, CSR investments benefit local communities and promote long-term social and economic growth. Making a difference is a core component of our vision, not merely a duty.
8. Throughout your career, you’ve navigated complex business challenges. Can you share a particularly difficult moment and how you overcame it to achieve success? I've encountered several obstacles in my profession, but one in particular stemmed from the early phases of Prime Sales' distribution network expansion. We ran into serious logistical problems and opposition from the market, which could have delayed our expansion goals. I did, however, adopt a proactive stance by carefully examining the circumstances, speaking with relevant parties, and looking into potential solutions. I foresaw possible obstacles and took action to resolve them before they became more serious rather than responding to the difficulties as they arose. We overcame the challenges and made sure everything ran smoothly thanks to this proactive attitude. By remaining ahead of the curve and modifying our approach as necessary, we were able to not only fix the problem but also fortify our basis for future achievements. 9. As a seasoned entrepreneur and industry leader, what advice would you give to young professionals and aspiring business owners in South Asia who are looking to make their mark?I would advise young professionals and prospective entrepreneurs in South Asia to exercise patience and consistency. Success requires patience, hard work, and persistence; it doesn't come quickly. Despite obstacles, concentrate on laying a strong foundation and persistently pursue your objectives.
Be ready to put in the time necessary to understand, modify, and improve your tactics. Persistence is the key to growth, and even little steps add up. Remain dedicated to your goal, put in your best effort each day, and have faith in the process. Being consistent will eventually pay off and help you establish yourself in the field.
10. Looking ahead, what is your vision for Mtek Hygiene and Prime Sales, and how do you plan to continue driving growth and impact in the SAARC region and beyond? My goal for MTEK Hygiene and Prime Sales is to develop a significant presence in global markets and broaden our reach outside of the SAARC area. We want to expand internationally and look at new export prospects while we keep growing domestically.
With an emphasis on sustainability, product innovation, and upholding high standards of quality, we intend to present our solutions to a worldwide clientele. Our distribution capabilities will be improved by utilizing our current infrastructure to guarantee smooth export operations. Furthermore, we will cultivate alliances and teamwork to expand into foreign markets while maintaining our dedication to social impact, thereby increasing the accessibility of hygiene goods globally.
