SCCI Vice President’s Virtual Meeting

The SCCI Vice Presidents’ Meeting was held virtually on Zoom.us on 25th February 2022 at 5.00 p.m. – 7.00 p.m. (PST). The meeting was called on by Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, President SCCI.

The meeting was attended by Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, President SCCI, Mr. Sheikh Fazle Fahim, Vice President (Bangladesh) SCCI, Mr. Vinod Juneja, Vice President (India) SCCI, Mr. Haji Ghulam Ali, Vice President (Pakistan) SCCI, Dr. M. Rohitha Silva, Vice President (Sri Lanka) SCCI, Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Butt, Acting Secretary General SCCI, Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, EC Member (Pakistan) SCCI and Vice Chair SCCI, Headquarter Building Committee (Special Invitee) and Mr. Ruwan Edirisinghe, Immediate Past President SCCI and EC Member (Sri Lanka) SCCI as special invitee.

The objective of the meeting was to discuss the matter of renewal of SAARC bodies and the progress of SCCI Headquarters building Project.

Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Butt, Acting Secretary General SCCI, while welcoming the respected participants, invited the President SCCI for his opening remarks, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, President SCCI, welcomed the respected participants to the meeting, and conveyed sympathies for the loss of lives of some past leaders of SCCI during the global pandemic.

During the meeting Mr. Zulfiqar Butt, Acting Secretary General apprised the participants that during the visit of Secretary General SAARC, Mr. Esala Weerakoon, assured SAARC Secretariat would thoroughly consider the matter and try to expedite the process of renewing the recognitions of all SAARC apex and allied bodies.

Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, President SCCI, mentioned that the SCCI headquarters building was gradually being built and it had been completed to a greater extent. Given the fact that the headquarters is based in Islamabad, Pakistan, he expressed that the Government of Pakistan had been financially supporting the constructions of the building. He further stressed the continued hard work of Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, EC Member (Pakistan) SCCI / Vice Chair SCCI Headquarter Building Committee, and Mr. Haji Ghulam Ali, VP (Pakistan) SCCI, for the headquarter building project.

The President SCCI together with the SCCI Vice Presidents emphasized that the new SCCI Headquarters Building would be an iconic place for the South Asian business community to efficiently work together for a robust growth and socioeconomic development in South Asia.
