To support climate change mitigation and adaptive entrepreneurships in South Asia, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI) led a “South Asia Youth Summit” in Kathmandu Nepal on November 2, 2017. The event was organized in collaboration with Federation of Nepal Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FNCCI) and in partnership with Friedrich Naumann Foundation (FNF).
The prime objective of the summit was to advocate & promote entrepreneurship and development of youth businesses, and to foster the concept of Youth-led green business enterprises as the catalysts for community action.
H.E Mr. Rajendra Kumar KC, Minister for Youth and Sports, Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal was the Chief Guest of the summit and gave keynote address. Prior to his keynote address Mr. Singye Namgyal Dorji, Chairman, SAARC Young Entrepreneur Forum extended warm welcome remarks to the participants of the summit. The inaugural session was also addressed by Mr. Suraj Vaidya, President, SAARC CCI and Ms. Bhawani Rana, President, FNCCI
The inaugural session was followed by two technical sessions, emphasized on climate change related opportunities like Green Entrepreneurship and Blue Economy to unleash the potential of youth entrepreneurship and creative solutions to climate change. The session were addressed by prominent speakers of region including government officials, young business entrepreneurs, experts on climate change and entrepreneurships, representatives of donors, INGOs, CBOs, policy makers and researchers who shared their valuable insights on how to tackle climate change with youth eco-entrepreneurship.
