Optimizing the Transition at the Helm of the SAARC CCI

SAARC CCI organized a one day workshop in partnership with Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom on Optimizing the Transition at the Helm of the SAARC CCI on March 15, 2018 in Katmandu, Nepal. Dr. Ronald Meinardus, Regional Director, FNF and Ms. Hina Saeed, Secretary General, SAARC CCI moderated the workshop.

The objectives of the workshop were to discuss steps to safeguard a smooth transition at the helm of the SAARC CCI and a continuation of successful strategies and policies on the various levels of the organization, to have an overview of the policy highlights of the outgoing president and to bring continuity in the existing policies.  This was also an attempt to make incoming President familiar SAARC CCI secretariat staff member with incoming leadership along their roles and responsibility at the headquarters.

President SAARC CCI, Mr. Suraj Vaidya, initially shared his experience being President of SAARC CCI and laid down few solid recommendations to incoming President to take forward SAARC CCI flag to new heights.  Mr. Ruwan Edirisinghe, incoming President, SAARC CCI shared his background and vision for SAARC CCI.  Mr. Edirisinghe in his address acknowledged the contributions of SAARC CCI and stressed upon exploring the new horizons. In his address, he assured all the possible cooperation towards promotion in the South Asia region.

At this occasion, Mr. Dasho Ugen Tsechup Dorji, Former President, SAARC CCI (Bhutan), Mr. Macky Hashim, Former President, SAARC CCI and Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, Chairman Finance & Accounts Committee SAARC CCI also shared view to carry forward the agenda of promotion of regional integration at SAARC CCI.
