Mr. Suraj Vaidya, President SAARC CCI paid a courtesy call on Honorable Minister for Commerce, Mr. M Pervaiz Malik

Mr. Suraj Vaidya, President, SAARC CCI Called-on Mr. Muhammad Pervaiz Malik, Hon’ble Federal Minister for Commerce, Govt. of Pakistan to invite his Excellency to the  6th SAARC Business Leaders Conclave. 
 
He was accompanied by Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, Vice President, SAARC CCI (Pakistan), Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, Executive Committee Member, Mr. Saifuddin Zoomkawala, Executive Committee Member, Mr. Sohail Hussain Malik, General Assembly Member, Ms. Hina Saeed, Secretary General, and Mr. Zulfiqar Ali Butt, Deputy Secretary General, SAARC CCI.

During the meeting Mr. Vaidya apprised the Hon’ble Minister that SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry in collaboration with Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry will be organizing the 6th edition of SAARC Business Leaders conclave in March, 2018 in Kathmandu, Nepal. He invited Hon’ble Minister as a key note speaker to Ministerial Round, which will also be addressed by other commerce Ministers from SAARC countries.

Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, requested Hon’ble Minister to release the additional funds of SAARC CCI headquarters building approved by Ministry of Commerce. During the meeting, Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, Vice President, SAARC CCI (Pakistan) said that SAARC CCI is actively working with different departments and states to improve ecosystem to boost intra-regional trade and  services. He requested Hon’ble Minister to adopt policies helpful to push export sector in regional trade agreements, while looking at issues of competitiveness across sectors in the form of reforms, liberalization and focusing on the trade policy.
Hon’ble Minister assured full cooperation of Ministry of Commerce, Government of Pakistan to make 6th SBLC a successful endeavor and agreed to participate. He also endorsed the speedy release of additional funds for timely completion of SAARC CCI headquarter building project.
He added that Pakistan is looking at widening the ambit “so that we make these opportunities in our region a reality and improve the level of prosperity and economic development in this region”. He further said that China Pakistan Economic corridor is one of the great examples of such initiative which could drive the benefits to South Asian nations. He invited member states of SAARC to take CPEC initiative positively and join this initiative to make our region prosperous.
