Training of Trainers on “Women Entrepreneurs in Digital South Asia: Enhancing Business Communications by Social Media

A three day training programme for trainers  was organized by SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) on “Women Entrepreneurs in Digital South Asia: Enhancing Business Communications by Social Media” in partnership with GIZ, initiated by SAARC Trade Promotion Network (TPN) on March 20-22, 2017 at Soaltee Crowne Plaza Kathmandu, Nepal. The participants arrived at the venue one day before, on March 19, 2017 to prepare for the program.

Trainer Mr. Asif Iqbal was shortlisted after a competitive recruitment process and fourteen participants from the SAARC member countries nominated, shortlisted and qualified to attend the training programme. The objective of the training programme was to train and provide skills to women entrepreneurs from the SAARC region to market their products and brands online and train them in developing innovative marketing strategies.

Day one of the training programme commenced with the opening remarks of Mr. Zubair A. Malik, Executive Committee Member, SAARC CCI (Pakistan) who emphasized on the role of social media in the contemporary era. He added that there has been a drastic rise in the usage of digital media for networking in the South Asian region over the past few years. The accessibility to internet has engorged with the passage of time due to internet-enabled mobile devices, he further shared.

Mr. Asif Iqbal (trainer) in the preparatory session introduced the participants with terminologies of marketing, advertising, promotion and social media channels. The three day training programme concentrated on social media websites specifically Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Youtube, Google Plus and Linked Inn. Furthermore, the sessions comprised of Facebook advertising processes, Facebook remarketing, insights groups and apps, LinkedIn Marketing and advertising, Twitter and YouTube marketing and advertising and media planning.

Mr. Zubair A. Malik, Executive Committee Member, SAARC CCI (Pakistan), acknowledged the efforts of Mr. Asif Iqbal (Trainer) and thanked all the participants for their active participation during the three day training programme. During his closing remarks, he thanked Mr. Suraj Vaidya, President SAARC CCI and Ms. Rita Bhandary Vice Chairperson SCWEC for their presence. Certificates of participation were awarded to the participants by Mr. Suraj Vaidya, President SAARC CCI in the concluding session on March 22, 2017.
